Royal Plum

A small batch of (Mount) Royal Plums, made with fruit from Mair Farm-Taki. Royal Plums are an heirloom European variety, and while they share the dusty purple skins and golden yellow flesh of other prunes, they differ in that they are round in shape instead of the class oval of the French and Italian Plums. This is neither here nor there in regards to flavor, but we love to help differentiate in every aspect that this beautiful fruit deserves.

The Royal Plums are hearty and complex -- when cooked, the skins provide a very velvety, tart, and slightly tannic texture but have a wonderful nectar-sweet finish like the Italian Plums. This is a wonderful, versatile jam that suits both savory and sweet applications.
